The State of Ohio has been working diligently to establish a clear and accessible pathway for adults wanting to advance their education.  The creation of Stackable Certificates will do exactly that by providing adult students a transparent pathway that will eliminate confusion while enhancing access and transferability.  Ohio adults will discover new and promising career pathways that lead to certificates and degrees that can be earned at appropriate and convenient locations.  

Currently, adult students can earn pre-college and college-level certificates:

• Pre-College Certificates
• Basic Skills Certificate
• Advanced Skills Certificate
• College- and Work-Ready Skills Certificate (1 credit hour)
• College-Level Certificates certifying technical and occupational skills in occupations in demand statewide and in different regions of the state.

The Literacy Center, working in collaboration with regional partners in Economic Development Region 11 (Athens, Hocking, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Noble, Perry and Washington counties) has proposed expansion and further development of the Stackable Certificate project with a focus on the health care industry.  Details will be available soon regarding student registration and site locations.
