
In February of 1998, the Ohio University Board of Trustees approved the establishment of the Center for the Study and Development of Literacy and Language in the College of Education. The Literacy Center was established by distinguished professor of history and philosophy of education, Dr. Edward W. Stevens, Jr., to foster professional development, research and study into literacy and language in the University as well as the surrounding region.
The Literacy Center has five areas of focus :

The Literacy Center remains committed to the future of literacy in southeastern Ohio and encouraging and promoting research and study into all areas of literacy.
